Special Diets
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

I'm wondering if anyone has changed
their eating habits due to their condition. I keep reading it's best to go on a plant based diet. Does anyone follow - https://squareone.chrisbeatcancer.com/video-red... or the Gerson Therapy and it's juicing recommendations and use of turmeric, beets, carrots (among others) for their healing qualities?

Hi Lady K....I have for yrs followed more of a plant base diet. I eat a lot of salads and I agree with Marcia that juicing is too much work for me. I do include low fat yogurt, some cheese and a little in the way of animal products. I have read that keeping the diet more Alkaline...is helpful for cancer. This is more of a plant based diet. I allow myself to have fun though ...for ex. a few cookies or chocolate every day!๐Ÿ˜€

Hi Lady K, Myeloma dietitians have said that a plant based diet where it make up 3/4 of your plate and 1/4 fish or other white meat only having red meat once in awhile. Berries such as blue berries black berries etc are good for providing antioxidants . Avocados are good also. Cu5 down on sugar. That is the basic rules. I donโ€™t know about the Gerson therapy. I have found that if a diet doesnโ€™t add variety and fit into your lifestyle it wonโ€™t work. Juicing to me is too much work. Lol! Some people really like to juice.
Good luck on your diet. Love, Marcia ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป

I put mysekf on a strict vegetabke based diet for 2 years. Drank tumeric tea and now do capsules, but nothing slowed the advancement of the mm. I did loose weight and try to eat healthy now but have indulging my sweet tooth much to much lately.

Thank you Carol, Marcia and Spiritpants! You have all been so helpful. Carol I have all my questions ready to ask my doctor on Monday. ๐Ÿ’œ That's a great suggestion with the utensils. Marcia, you're right juicing is a lot of work. Thanks for the other suggestions. I went shopping at our local Sprouts market for some organic fruits and veggies. I also picked up some beets, turmeric and ginger drinks. It's so sad that eating healthy has to cost so much though. Spiritpants I also had been already eating lots of salads so that won't be difficult to do, I think I'll just be a bit more conscious about adding super veggies. I agree not depriving yourself of those little goodies is a great idea too. ๐Ÿ˜Š I really just want to create the best internal atmosphere possible to help decrease cancer cell growth. I have to keep telling myself...."this is a journey"
