A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello so I would to hear from any one that had the harvest but waited like a year to have the SCT. I'm wondering how you felt
My thoughts are I felt so tired after I had the harvest I couldn't even imagine how I would have been able to go thought this. And I have heard many say they were sick, tired and it took alot out of them. I'm wondering if someone waited like a year was there body better able to handle it and maybe not have so many side effects

Hi Colleen I got diagnosed in December 2020 with mm and on January 5th I started chemo , I take it Tuesday’s and Friday’s , I take 25 mg of revlimid and I just finished 14 days of radiation therapy , I just met with transplant doctor on Monday and yesterday they called to set up pet scan and bone marrow biopsy for May 4th, June 11th through June 16th they will do the injection one day, harvest my stemcells the next days and on the sixth day they will put my central line in and on June 20th I will be admitted to the hospital where I will stay 14 days and the other 2 weeks I will be lodged near the hospital but I pray and ask God for strength and guidance everyday because I know he didn’t bring me this far to leave me and believe it or not he gives us things he know we can handle and you never how strong you are until you actually go through something but remember there’s light at the end of the tunnel and Colleen my prayers are with you and everybody else that’s joined together in this group and I hope with all the different comments you have found the answers you need and remember getting this stem cell transplant we play a major roll in it as well so be determined and push yourself once you get it done because a bed takes your strength away , we hit this 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

Colleen, A lot can happen in a year, The cancer could accelerate, you may feel better but may feel the same or worse. The doctors have worked hard to get your Myeloma Cells under 10% to get you where they could do a SCT, this is the best time to do it! The Researchers and most doctors still lean toward doing the SCT in early therapy for your best chance of getting a deeper and longer Remission. Talk with your doctor, if he doesn’t think you are up to it, he will tell you. Have a good night! Love, Marcia 🌸🌻🌼

I had a stem cell harvest done June 2018 And decided to wait to get the transplant done. My numbers have dropped 3 times since then, and my oncologist told me two days ago that my blood work was pristine, no sign of cancer whatsoever. Daily regiment of vitamin D plus CBD oil during the day and THC at night along with chaga oil twice daily. I feel great no pain and raring to go. I can still wait another 7 years for the transplant as the cells are good for 10 years.

Colleen, I had the same concerns as you are having. I did have the SCT and I am glad I did. I had some complications but if I was a little younger I would do it again. No one can answer whether you should have a SCT or not. That is a decision that you have to make on your own. I also looked for someone to help me with the decision but I still had to make it. Put your trust in God, ask God for guidance and with this, I feel you will make the right decision.
