Anne, They check the eGFR by a blood test. If positive they will do a PET Scan to see where it has settled. eGFR test is a estimated Glomeral Filtration Rate. Amyloidosis is the build up of the glomeral protein. It can attach to the kidney, heart, brain, lungs etc. The pet Scan will find out where the deposits are. They may also do a urine test and look for the eGFR.(glomeral protein). They can also take a tissue sample looking for the abnormal protein. Hi Anne, it's been a while since I had a test for amyloidosis, but if I remember correctly, they checked my blood, my urine and did a test on a bone marrow biopsy. It's not a lot different from other tests but they have to be specifically looking for the markers of the protein. Sorry I couldn't be more specific on which test results to look at.

I believe I got a stomach fat biopsy done to test for Amyloidosis.
