What Vitamins Does Everyone Take? I Have Peripheral Neuropathy In Addition To Mm. Marcia Holman, What Do You Take?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was writing down what Marcia Holman is taking beginning with Centrum Silver Multivitamin, 1000 mg vitamin c, but d, magnesium for leg cramps, Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg for peripheral neuropathy, L -Lisine for immune health, but then I somehow lost the rest when writing it down. Could anyone help with what she wrote. I’m also very interested to know what the other team members take & is working specifically for peripheral neuropathy in my toes & for immune health. I apologize for not posting… read more

My kids bought me a "feet pouch" on Amazon. It is like an electric blanket. I put my feet in it, turn it on high and in a half hour my neuropathy either goes away or feel much better.

I get the nutritional yeast at Trader Joe's, but many stores have it. Get the one without the added synthetic vitamins. Nutritional yeast has lots of B vitamins naturally.

Hi Grace, I will try to go over my meds for Neuropathy: OTC. Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg, Quanal Turmeric 1,000 mg (it digests easier and you get more of it). RX : Gabapentin 1800mg.q day, 1 in AM, 2 Evening, and 3 Night I worked up to this dosage and I have tried a lot of other treatments that haven’t worked. H-wave, hyperbaric chamber, didn’t make much difference. Acupuncture, I think helps but it got too expensive and my insurance didn’t cover it. I tried Lyrica and Cymbalta but they didn’t work.
I have RLS ( Restless Leg Syndrome ). I take RX : Reequip-(RobinRole) 1mg Evening and 1mg Night. I take Baclofen PRN (when needed) for leg muscle cramps - TheraFlex is good for cramps too. I5 helps release the cramp.
Because my symptoms are worse toward evening hours I take Eve and Night doses so I can sleep.

For Immune Health: OTC: L Lysine, good for skin and tissue, Omega 3 Fish oil, also good for Heart and Neuropathy. RX: Acyclovir 400 mg in am and 400 at night Antiviral - to prevent Shingles. OTC: Vit C 1000 mg to keep Immune system strong during cold and flu season. Nature Valley is time released and lasts 24 hours. I take Centrum Silver A-Zinc as a multi Vit - for women! They have a men’s too.
I do take Vit D and Magnesium but it is because I run low so only take these if it is advised by your doctor.
I have high blood pressure so i take 2 different BP meds. Also, have slightly elevated Cholesterol so I take a low dose Statin RX.
I think this is my list but I may have missed something, being in the hospital where I don’t have access to my medication list is hard to think of everything. Hope this helps!
Praying 🙏 for your husband, Love, Marcia 🌸

Hi, I hope you’re feeling somewhat better now, you have many problems to deal with. I have the numbness of neuropathy but would like to speak to the painful neuropathy, the stabbing pains that I get in my feet, mostly the right one that wakes me abruptly during the night. Before I began to take between 400-600 mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid, depends on the brand, which helps tremendously after 2 or 3 weeks on it, and when the sharp pains woke me, I would hang that right leg over the side of the bed for a few minutes and the pain would disappear and when it happened again, I did the same thing maybe needing to do this 2 to 3 times a night. I think it works because with the hanging of the leg the blood flow goes to your feet to normalize the situation. With the ALA, there can still be some pain, although less, occasionally, especially if I forget to take it or try to reduce the amount, but it is much improved. Good luck to you and your husband.

My mother went through cancer therapy twice and never had neuropathy. She always takes 2 heaping tsp's of nutritional yeast twice a day. Her Oncologists say she has the best blood. They have started taking it. One of the brands is Bob's Red Mill. Make sure there are no chemical additives. Nutritional yeast gives you many B vitamins. Always check with your doctor.
