Help Woth Elevated Kappa Light Chains.
I am three years in remission and I just got blood work done but my Kappa light chains were elevated but my Lambda light chains were normal. Can anybody advise me on why this could happen. They are normally both in range but my Kappa is really elevated. I am trying to have faith but my protein electrophoresis is not back yet which shows whether there is any monoclonal proteins in my blood or not.. asking for advice and prayers. I have already had one stem cell transplant and chemo to put my MM… read more
TD hubby’s Kappa light chains are always elevated but have been told that the Kappa/ Lamda ratio is what they use to determine the result.
His ratios are Within normal limits.
They need more than your light chain numbers. They look at your m spike. Serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixation. 🥰
Lifting you up in prayer that no monoclonal protein is detected!
M proteins are made of pieces called chains. There are usually two "light" chains and two "heavy" chains. M proteins are grouped by what kind of heavy and light chains they have. There are five kinds of heavy chains, called IgG, IgA, IgD, IgM, and IgE.

My doctor also recommended watching my paraprotein counts.
What Were Your Kappa Levels At The Highest Point Before Treatment? What Was Your Highest K/L Ratio? Thank You, Curt ( Newfoundland )
What Does It Mean When Your Labs Results Come Back Saying Your Kappa Lambda Light Chain Is High
Immunoglobulin G, A, & M Ranges Are Normal. Immunofixation Serum Is Normal. KAPPA Light Chain 31.6 Lambda 17.1 & Kappa/Lambda Ratio1.85.
