I have Kappa Light Chain so it affects my kidneys. I established care with a nephrologist when I was diagnosed because they were rapidly failing. He did some tests to make sure it wasn't being caused by something else. He put me on a 64 oz rule for water every day. He sees the results of my oncologist's tests and I can message him about any concerns. Really, there can be several reasons for your labs. My best advice is we need a specialist for major organs just like we do for cancer. I dont expect my oncologist to be my cardiologist or my nephrologist. Its important to know how well your kidneys are doing and what is affecting them.

Greetings from Anchorage I too have problems with my kidneys due to my light chain myeloma. My primary care doctor sent me to the nephrologist so now I see the nephrologist every six months just another person added to my team as well as cardiologist to monitor the blood pressure. I have to take iron potassium folic daily. So hang in there there’s so many things we have to monitor get plenty of water exercise and good sleep. Take care.

Pain medications: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve), can reduce blood flow to the kidneys. Acetaminophen and aspirin may also be harmful if overused.
Cholesterol medications: The dosing of certain cholesterol medications, known as "statins", may need to be adjusted.
Antibiotics: Some antibiotics can cause harm.
Anti-microbial medications: Many anti-fungal, antibiotic, and antiviral medications are cleared by the kidneys.
Contrast dyes: Iodinated radiocontrast dyes used during radiographic testing, such as a CT scan, can lead to kidney injury.
Natural health products: Some natural health products could cause harm.

Having said all that, it's just what you wrote, it depends on many factors, such as age, weight, health conditions, etc... Remember, what is a bad # for some, may be good for others and vice versa! My eGFR fluctuates , sometimes going down in the 50's, but now it's up to 72! And my creatinine was high, but now back down to .91.

Different for everyone based on so many different factors, I wouldn't worry and definitely consult with your doctor after all your results are in!🌞🌻🤗

Kathryn, as you know myeloma can affect our kidneys. One lab test doesn't mean much. The doctor's look for trends. Are your results the same as previous, better or worse?
