I would recommend that you keep a pain diary. It can be helpful to pinpoint what triggers the pain and what relieves it. Another option is to consult a pain management specialist. I was suffering from severe radiculopathy due to a compression fracture of my L2. The kyphoplasty was not successful but the pain management physician searched for a cause. Turns out a tumor was growing in the L2 spinal root. My point here is to continue to seek answers. Your treatment and your pain management can work together. Don’t give up, hang in there.

Another option is to use hemp lotion from Amazon or Biofreeze products whether they are lotion or spray. I also purchased a velcro back brace for when my pain is more severe. Again, I got a great one on Amazon for low cost.

I had Kyphoplasty on T8 & T10 since more than 50% of vertebrae was gone from MM. I did get a little relief but an extra activities ir exercise put me down for several days. I do take Morphine 15mg twice a day but on days after extra stuff it barely touches it. And I do have new areas if pain popping up...Hematology-Oncology team are perplexed by the pain. I have started seeing a pain dr but it is at ground zero.

Hi Kathryn...I was diagnosed a month after you (end of January) and I also have some pain (mostly in my skull, spine, and back). Where is your pain primarily and what are you taking to taking to help manage?

I was prescribed Tramadol in case I need to use, but trying to manage the pain with Tylenol, ice packs, and heating pads. I've heard Tramadol is good for a pain level between 4-6 and Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen is good for a pain level between 7-9.

Similar to the comment above, the pain is likely a combination of the treatment "doing its job" along with the pain for the disease itself.

Good morning! It's quite common to experience pain during chemotherapy for multiple myeloma, especially as you're preparing for a stem cell transplant. The pain could be due to the chemotherapy itself or related to the myeloma. Morphine is often used to manage severe pain effectively. It's important to keep communicating with your healthcare team about your pain levels and any side effects you're experiencing. They can adjust your pain management plan to help you feel more comfortable. How are you feeling otherwise?
