Or had SMM for some time and haven't progressed.
I'm told I have a 50% chance of progressing in the first 5 years.
And 70% over 10 years. I'm not sure what my odds are of hitting a dear with all the country driving I do. I'm signing up for a clinical trial that tries to prevent progression.
Hi Mark,
I was diagnosed with MGUS in 2020. Probably had it for years. I progressed to Smoldering in March 2023. I am high risk, so I will probably progress quicker than I would like. Fortunately, my numbers are stable. I think it depends on your FISH Cytogenetics Report. Each year new therapies emerge. Your odds are good that they may find something to treat you.

Mark,
I read so many good things about Curcumin. Larry2 thinks it has helped him. I think he said the trials use a specific type, different from what you would normally buy at the store. The trials of it all sound very promising. Keep us posted.💕

I sure will! It looks like this is likely the trial I'm enrolling in:
https://classic.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT...
Interestingly it lists the "Drug" used:
Drug: Curcumin plus Piperine
Curcumin with piperine is a well-tolerated over-the-counter supplement.
Other Name: Curcumin C3 Complex®
which I found on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Comple...
It claims to be exceptionally bio-available.
I think that it is great to participate in a clinical study with SMM. The theory is that treatment at this stage may actually curative. In my case, I went from MGUS to SMM to active MM in a 10 month period. It was a rapid decline.
Hi Marcia, thanks so much for your reply and the info on turmeric. I'm so sorry to hear that your SMM has progressed and that you've had difficult treatment. Wishing you blessings in the midst of these challenges! ❤️
