My wife has been -MRD post SCT since Feb. of ‘22. Has been on Revlimid as part of maintenance protocol. Doc says it is our, my wife’s choice, but recommends it. I am concerned about secondary issues. May not be considered a long time in the grand scheme of things, but I am just sensitive to it. Do have complete confidence in our medical team, but like I said, I am concerned about being on Rev too long if she doesn’t need to be….next doc appointment in mid December. I will bring it up at that point…thanks to all for input…
LelandStandord recently posted to my Story that since April he’s also being Monitored without MM Meds. He’s getting quarterly Labs and annual MRD testing. I have read of others that during the past 6 months have transitioned to Monitoring. I believe Bob66 is one of them. Some have been Negative for years and others like myself are recently Negative.
Dr Costa’s video (Link at my Story) expressed his concerns about staying on Maintenance Meds too long for two reasons - their own secondary cancer issues and if a relapse occurs while on a particular med, it’s no longer available as a tool to regain remission.
Have you talked to your myeloma specialist about this? Have you maintained your MRD negative status for a few years in a row? Let us know what they say. One guy on here just gets close monitoring every 3 months. I personally haven't ever been MRD negative.
There is Revlimid as low as 2.5mg. Also, some people take it just 3 times a week. My Consulting Doc at JH said he’s had people take 10mg or even 5mg every other day to get the results of a lower dose version.
