I have Zoledronic acid infusion every few weeks to strengthen my bones. Be warned, after the first infusion you may suffer from flu like symptoms. I did, but thereafter allis fine.

Thereโ€™s a long list of considerations but if your Labs are normal with a very low MSpike, a SCT isnโ€™t always required. I went from Induction to Maintenance (no SCT), then 3-1/2 months later I tested MRD Negative (10 -6), based on the new clonoSEQ method. When my Doc got these results he placed me on Monitoring mode with no MM Meds (as per MRD-SURE). Itโ€™s great to see the advances in MM Case Studies and treatment. When it was time to consider my SCT, my Consulting Doc said now or three years from now would not change my survival rate. So glad I waited - 3-1/2 months of maintenance (smaller doses and less frequent) finished what Induction had started. All the Best.

I had Xgeva (a bisphosphonate) for 6 months. They originally said I'd be on it for two years. Now that I'm in Complete Remission (10 -6), my Doc has taken me off it and said that my osteoclast and osteoblast will return to normal since I'm off all MM Meds.

I just had a Bone Density Test to make sure that my working out at the gym was not going to be a risk. I'm only mild osteopenia and at no risk. I've been told that weight bearing exercises will increase my bone density. I'm off to the gym (a line from the Good Place - which indeed it is).

Myrtho, Kyprolis can cause cardiac issues. Let your doctor know about the headaches, dizziness and leg swelling. I wasn't on Kyprolis very long, I did have high blood pressure with it. I had Zometa for 2 years I did okay with it. I did gave bone aches afterwards. I took
Tylenol and drank lots of water. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’—

Yes, I had Zometa for 2 years. Most myeloma patients get some type of bone strengthening drug. ๐Ÿ’•
