Let’s After Stem Cell Transplant
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve been told I can’t be around my dog for 100 days after my stem cell transplant. All of you dog lovers how did you do it? I have a 2 year old standard poodle that is connected to my hip!!! I need your suggestions and help!!!!

Funny how most here got slightly different suggestions from our doctors.
Bottom line is we have very little to no, immunity after an SCT.
I don't see where anyone who responded here took a highly dangerous risk.
Joyann, I believe you'll be fine with a clean, new pet.
Heck, my 50lb Shiba Inu was all over me when I came home after a 3 weeks absent.
My wife tried to call him off but I said he's okay. 💕
Btw....I'm still here. Lol

I was told the dog could be in the house but not sleep with me in the bed.
No prob. He takes up too much room when he does.lol
The reason being is when they're outside doing their business, they can bring in alot of germs/bacteria on their paws.
And Michelle is right. The plants had to be in rooms I didn't go into. The soil is also full of germs and bacteria.
My wife and daughters did a hell of a job cleaning the house before my discharge.

You can pet them. No kisses. Wash your hands all the time after touching them.

My husband could not play in his garden or compost. We have no pets

My husband gave my dog a bath while I was in the hospital. My dog got on my bed with me when I got home. My transplant nurse didn't say I had to isolate from my dog. She did say not to clean a cat litter box or let the cats jump up on the counters 💕
