Does Anyone Have Experience With EVUSHELD Yet?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

EUVASHELD (tixagevimab co-packaged w/ cilgavimab) is a preexposure prophylaxis that received emergency approval in December. I was asked if I wanted to be on the list for it and said yes. The medical facility/insurer I use said I qualify because of the MM. I have a call into my specialist, I'm curious if anyone else has gotten it yet.

DarleneMae, I doubt any of us has has experience with this but I know about it. It has not been released in the US yet but it is coming soon. EVUSHELD ( also known as AZD7442) Is two combinations of drugs that is produced by Astra-Zenica to act as a long lasting antibody in the prevention of COVID19. It is in combination with a drug that is already being used in the US called Cilgavimab. (Hope I spelled it right - but close enough). It will be released by the FDA soon under an Emergency Use Authorization for Patients that are Immunocompromised due to their Immune System being decreased due to their condition or the drugs they are on causing a Immune System Compromise. It is available for those that even though they have received all three vaccines they cannot make enough Antibodies to prevent getting COVID19. There are still studies going on to see if it will work against The Omnicron Virus. It is estimated that even though fully vaccinated, only 2 % of the global population is at risk that the EVUSHELD could help.

I am very interested in this and have been following it for a couple of months and the Clinical Trials that have had good results.

That is all I have! Have. Good night! Love, Marcia ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป

MarciaHolman, Thank you as always you are a wealth of knowledge!!! I followed up with my specialist who is encouraging patients to get it too.
I got the call today to make an appointment and will get the two shots this Thursday. Hopefully it will be available across the US very soon if this one healthcare system has gotten a limited quantity. They were moving fast to get it in people. However, that's very understandable since the covid numbers are high in PA.

I'll keep everyone updated on how I make out with the shots. I stay an hour after I receive it to be monitored and they suggested I have someone with me.

Most of all praying for you Marcia and your current health challenge and to remain safe from covid. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโค๏ธ

Someone posted about Evasheld and their doctor said that it was not effective anymore, because of how COVID keeps changing. I don't know if that is true, but asking about it, might be a good idea. I mentioned, that the shot almost sounds like a flu shot; imperfect and doesn't always help.
