My husband was taking zometa after every infusion for a year. Then the oncologist moved it to once every 3 months. In September, 2021, if his labs stay good, he’s going to remove zometa completely. Hope that helps.

Darlene, A lot of doctors will take you completely off of Biophosphonates because it has shon that extended use after 2 years can have the opposite effect and you are at risk for fractures, especially if it was given frequent. Love, Marcia 🌼🌸🌻

Just be very cautious if you need dental work. Extractions, etc can cause your jawbone to die after taking zometa or xgeva even some years earlier.

I took Zometa for months until Xgeva was FDA approved. Xgeva is what I regard as the new and improved version of the medication. It was exceedingly effective in my case. I have been off Biophosphonates for more than a year now.
