Is One Able To Climb Three Flights Of Stairs During Outpatient SCT?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m trying to decide the best place for me to stay during my outpatient SCT. My daughter’s apartment is closer to the hospital than my house but she lives on the third floor and there isn’t an elevator. I’m wondering if it is reasonable to think I will be able to climb the stairs during the SCT process. Please share your thoughts and experiences.

I did an inpatient SCT. As Robert Pugh said above, there's a 5 day period where it is really tough. I don't believe you would be able to climb three flights of stairs. easily and would be worried about possibly falling and really hurting yourself. Please consult your doctor about this and go for inpatient if you can.

Absolutely not! 🙂 as Isabelle stated, the effort, fatigue and even possible weather changes that you are exposed to should be carefully managed. Great Care should be above convenience at this time.💙🦋 No Stairs 🌼👍🏽 confirm w/your medical team. Maybe a few weeks after the SCT during follow up visits! You will understand more as you progress 🦋

It is not reasonable to expect to climb 3 flights of stairs. They put you on a bed alarm at the hospital There are places that rent rooms for stem cell patients here by the hospital here maybe that is something to look into

The procedure itself is a piece of cake - almost like being reborn. It’s the side effect during recovery that are a challenge. I’m doing real well now about 100 days out. It is nice to have nurses and doctors there all the time with the inpatient procedure since they can do a lot to make it better when you really need help. I struggled most with lack of appetite, nausea, and diarrhea.

Hey it went better than I expected. Praying you have great results also. I was nervous too but everything went well. Did get sick for a couple of days but they took good care of me. Praying 🙏🏽
