New To Treatment And Have Developed A HORRIBLE MISERABLE Rash.....
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed in Feb of this year. Started my first round of velcade, dex and revlimid March 5th. I had injection site reactions which were sore and red the first week. That weekend I developed a rash and was prescribed hydroxyzine. Helped a little bit, mostly made me sleepy. Finished out the first 2 week round with a little more rash. On my week off, my skin started to get better. My 2nd round of treatment brought more rash and a steroid pack which didn't help at all. When I showed my… read more

I got a terrible rash from my 25 mg of Revlimid on my first and third cycles. Perfectly fine on second and fourth before my SCT. Figure that out! 🧐 I didn't do the full 14 days worth on those bad cycles. One of the rashes was so awful it was leaving welts from my head to my feet. I used anti-itch and steroid cream for relief, along with a steroid pack. I also took Claritin.

My rash was not as extensive. Monday, oncology and dermotology looked at rash, unable to determine if meds caused. Dermatology issued Triamcinolone Acetonide cream to apply twice daily. By Thursday, arms and upper chest cleared up, back cleared by friday.

Hi Jennifer, and any other members who may be experiencing a rash, particularly from velcade. First, i am so glad you found a solution to your suffering Jennifer! I dont think i could have stuck it out that long!
I had an injection site rash developing within hours of my very first velcade shot, which i was receiving with dex and revlimid as my RVD induction prior to my sct. They changed the velcade to iv instead of injection (in my belly fat) and i was fine for the 9 weekly rounds prior to my sct.
I hope this is helpful to anyone else

Oh my goodness. I feel fortunate that I only reacted to velcade and after stopping a short time (felt like years) my rash cleared up. The itching was pretty intense, I felt like I was digging chunks of skin off my scalp, I left a trail of dna every where I sat for a while. I had to sit on ice to cool the rash on my bottom. Oatmeal baths did not help the rest of my body, tar and dandruff shampoo's didn't help. I have about 10 different tubes of over the counter creams and herbal remedies which none worked. The doctor prescribed hydroxyzine HCL, which kept me knocked out when the itching was really bad. I asked for clobetasol .05% cream for my body which helped immensley! For my scalp I was given the same medicine but in a topical solution, which was a God send! As my rash subsided I would use over the counter Original Sarna anti itch lotion. Now I am rash free, but go into a mild panic when my scalp itches - lol. I am responding well with kyprolis in place of the velcade.
I sure hope your husband gets relief soon, maybe the Sarna could help some now until he see's his doctor? This dang rash, it's a miserable place to be.
