What are the factors that SS look at when deciding if u qualify for SSID? I had a tumor on my lower vertebrae (T-12) which crushed my vertebrae and had to have surgery on it in which they had to put metal rods in my back and seal up the crushed vertebrae with a type of cement.....which is not guaranteed to last....and I still have severe lower back pain because they weren’t even able to remove all of the tumor. Also, I still receive Chemo everyday and take chemo pill at home

Hello. Go to SS Office or call to set up an appts and apply for disability for MM. Bring all your documents from your doctor's.
The process does take a few months but MM is listed as a disability for SSDI which helps. You should undoubtedly file a claim and keep after the paperwork as quickly as possible. You don’t need a lawyer unless you are uncertain how to answer, but your post indicates you’ve been through a lot of treatment already that you understand and can explain how MM limits your life functions. You may also get help from a social worker at your treatment center or hospital if they offer that help. Many do. Wishing you all the best going forward. Stay strong.
Dana, get copies of all your medical records and apply online. You will need to fill out the required paperwork and fax it back in. Your doctor will have to sign that you are unable to work for a year. Myeloma does qualify. I didn't need a lawyer. Good luck😀
Months but it sounds like a good chance do u have a disability lawyer that helps
My insurance company contacted me and were my advocates doing all paperwork over the phone, sending everything needed to doctors etc. I just have names and numbers. This was BCBS. I would never have thought of applying. I was okayed within three months but was told with all the docs needed to return with their recommendations it could take six months. Had I been denied, my BCBS caseworker would have fought for me. Maybe start there, with your insurance.
