When to the doctor today and was told that part of my blood work came back iga kappa monoclonal detected and I’ve been asked to submit a 24-hour urine test. Does this mean I have cancer? I’ve been googling all day and I can’t think of any other reason or see anything else that could mean. My neurologist says, “I’m 95% you don’t have cancer”, but isn’t that what that means? I’m nervous and any input could help.
It's another diagnostic tool. Blood tests don't always give an accurate picture, so further testing is advised. Don't worry--just let them continue with the testing. Sometimes it takes awhile to get all the necessary tests done, and it can be nerve wracking, but it's the only way the doctors can come up with an accurate diagnosis.
Cindy, it does not mean you have cancer. They will need to do more testing. Sounds like your doctor is on top of it. Hugs to you💕
My neurologist did the bloodwork and said he has done it for 25 years. I was the first to have smoldering myeloma. But I am still in that range. This is 3 years later. It is great to find everything early.
After my urine test showed this i immediately had the bone marrow biopsy and in 24 hours they new that i had mm
Do you have an update on your diagnosis? I was told the same lab result came back for me as well.
