What Can I Do To Receive Insurance For A Stem Cell Transplant If I Have Esrd. Medicaid Insurance Companies Are Turning Me Down
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have esrd and multiple myeloma. I cannot get a stem cell transplant because I have renal failure and most insurance companies will not except me because of what I have which stops everything that's going on.

Ernestine, I would talk with an Financial counselor at the hospital where you will have the SCT. They will know the ins and outs of they Insurance world. Stay Positive/ Stay Safe! Love, Marcia 🌸

I know nothing about ESRD rules but I know I was turned down at a couple hospitals for SCT because of renal failure . My doctor did get MD Anderson to do it . Financial services at MDA told me what and who I needed to get in contact with to cover the SCT . It took 6 weeks to get everything approved . I got dialysis 3 times a week through the stem cell . A little rough since you are sick from the chemo but whatever it takes to get to remission : )

They are very good about insurance and the Trillium Fund also. I had too tell the insurance company that I gave permission for the woman too deal with the insurance.

Ernestine, hello. There are a few people on this site that have had a transplant with ESRD. Hoping they can help you. Several have gone into remission without a transplant. Wishing you the best either way🙏💖
