But this last time they are now abnormally high. The Kappa/Lambda light chain ratio was abnormally high is now abnormally low. Does anyone have any insight why this may have happened? My Dr appt is not for 2 weeks and I am looking for anwsers. Thx
GailWilliams my light chains are not always true to what is going on in my bone marrow because I have kidney disease . Sometimes they are higher and sometimes they are lower than what they should be . I was told it has something to do with the kidneys .
I just returned yesterday from Cancer center for SC harvesting, I was given 2 shots in the belly every day for thee days then on the forth day a line was inserted in my chest and I was hooked up a machine that runs your blood through a machine and returns it back to you, takes about 4 hours sitting in a bed, usually has to be done 3 times to get enough SC. Some lucky ones get enough the first time, but was told only 10% finish the first time.
Patty knows more about it than I do. I saw the PA at Winship in November, I was worried about my light chains being wacky. He said they go by what's in the marrow. My ratio is normal though. An abnormal ratio, too high of too low, could mean active myeloma. Sounds like your doc is watching it. 🙏😇
My Doctor said that the kappa light chain was never the best marker for the disease that I have which was the IgG kappa type, He said my myeloma is best tracked by the monoclonal protein.
My free light chains are off the last three tests. The Dr is just watching it. Not overly concerned at this point.
